Tong Watt Road Singapore

2014

This unusual commission was to remodel a rebuilt house with a conserved facade.  The clients wanted a boho eclectic feel to the home, going so far as to replace glass balustrades with vintage inspired handrails, and replacing window planes with old cast patterned glass.  Our interventions were simple – to enclose the stair in the reception behind a carved screen reminisce of Peranakan roof eaves; convert the courtyard into a sky-lit internal patio; opening the kitchen so that it becomes part of the living space.  The end result was a free space with mix of old and new, heirlooms and found pieces, with Art everywhere.
